He just wants to make a phone call.

In the world of comic books and the movies they inspire, there is a certain amount of overlap between the experiences of both heroes and villains. For instance, it is rather common for heroes and villains to find themselves in the clutches of their enemies. Regardless of whether it€™s a hero caught in a villainous death trap or a criminal in police custody, both are in desperate need of sudden liberation. The art of the great escape is very broad with so many factors to consider and evaluate. None of those factors are dependent on which side of the law the escapee finds him or herself. We€™re not here to pass moral judgment, but rather examine and appreciate the creativity, ingenuity, intricacy, and degree of difficulty that go into the mind-blowingly good fun of a well-crafted escape scene. The path to freedom is difficult for good and bad guys alike, but always entertaining for us, the faithful viewers. The need to escape is very common in the genre, providing a large number of scenes and making the selection process very difficult. Upon careful contemplation, this list profiles the 12 greatest escapes in the relatively short, but still rich history of the comic book movie genre.

12. Miss Tessmacher With The Assist - Superman: The Movie

Superman€™s trusting nature and near-invulnerability worked against him when Lex Luthor introduced the Man of Steel to Kryptonite. With the unwanted green bling around his neck, Superman was set to drown in an underground pool while a pair of missiles killed millions along American coastlines. His escape was not elaborate, but it was effective. It was not his strength or flight that saved Superman from this predicament, but his humanity. He appealed to the common decency of Luthor€™s assistant, Miss Tessmacher, for help in removing the Kryptonite from his neck so that he could save all of those endangered people, including Tessmacher€™s mother. In swaying Miss Tessmacher to betray her bad guy boss, Superman showed that one of his greatest powers is his ability to bring out the best in others.
