10 Deadly Roller Coasters That Killed People

One mistake can be the difference between a thrill-ride and disaster.

Thumb1 Theme parks have fast become one of the world's favourite entertainment destinations in the last century, with their mix of exciting rides, exotic attractions and ridiculously overpriced food. The real mark of a good theme park is the quality of its roller coasters, rides that send its riders spinning, twisting and gliding along a track. Despite generally being as safe as any other kind of ride, roller coasters have been involved in some of the worst disasters in amusement ride history. Due to the high speeds and great heights found in many track designs, there have been several incidents have resulted in the death of one or more riders. This list takes a look at the worst of these tragedies, which occurred as a result of gross negligence, miscommunication, or just bad luck. While many of the roller coasters featured here have since been shut down, there are just as many that are still running to this very day (with revamped safety features). We've also managed to locate point-of-view rider videos for all but one of the tracks, allowing the brave of heart to experience what it's like to ride on some of the deadliest roller coasters ever built.
