10 Ridiculous Finishes To WWE And WCW World Title Matches

The quality of a finish can make or break a match, and these broke them.

For all the matches that make it to a pay-per-view card, the main event is the primary attraction and is almost always a world title match, the match that's supposed to excite people, put asses in seats and make them cough up their hard earned cash. The problem is, the match is rarely as good as we think it'll be and we're not always buying what we think we're buying. A bad, dull or boring match is one thing, but controversial, silly and ridiculous match finishes have been known to completely change the complexion of decent matches and ruin any good memories of impressions we had of otherwise decent pay-per-views. Rarely do these finishes happen to lower card matches because the stakes are considered too small for any intricate complication. As wrestling became more complicated and edgy in the late 90's, a main event match was rarely just a match anymore, there had to be a hook, a flashy finish or some crazy swerve ending that made viewers want to keep tuning in. Sometimes these kind of finishes can add to a match and make it tense, exciting and unique, but often we'd prefer we just got what we paid for. The following 10 entries are some of wrestling's most pointless, needless, senseless and ridiculous endings to high-profile matches that could have just been left alone.
