In the aftermath of R-Truth, Carlito, and Valhalla being informed that their existing WWE deals would not be being renewed, there's now word on the contract status of Karrion Kross.

It had previously been reported that Kross was in a contract year, with the belief that his current WWE deal is up at some point this summer. Now, Fightful Select notes how WWE has yet to approach the former NXT Champion about extending his contract.

For the most part, WWE usually notifies a talent a month or so ahead of a contract expiry that the company won't be looking to renew their deal. With that said, WWE has more recently been happy to keep using someone on TV right up until they notify them that a contract extension won't be happening. As an example of that, R-Truth worked his Saturday Night's Main Event match against John Cena, wrestled JC Matteo on the following week's SmackDown, only to then be told over that next weekend that WWE won't be extending his stay with the promotion.

This Fightful report adds that Karrion Kross is believed to have a "few months" remaining on his current WWE contract.

Could Karrion Kross Leave WWE?

Right now, Karrion Kross is in a unique position where there's an ever-increasing groundswell of fan support for Kross, his merchandise is selling out on WWE Shop, his social media game is exceptional, he's making the most of his minutes on WWE programming, yet he's still struggling to get those major moments and matches.

Over the past year or so, regardless of his TV time, Kross has been knocking it out of the park on social media, crafting his own vignettes and promo packages that have had the wrestling world abuzz. In terms of his TV presence, he's been tied to AJ Styles and, more recently, Sami Zayn, playing a Devil's Advocate-type role of encouraging AJ and Sami to embrace their darker sides, but that hasn't particularly resulted in Karrion having much to do himself.

Where main WWE programming is concerned, Karrion Kross has wrestled just two matches in 2025 - one being against Styles on an April Raw episode, the other as part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal prior to WrestleMania 41 - and that AJ contest was Kross' first one-on-one Raw match since July of last year.

Karrion has wrestled just six WWE matches so far this year, with the other four being relegated to Main Event. However, a 20-minute barnburner against Alexander Hammerstone at FSW's Chris Bey benefit show back in March highlighted what Kross can do when given the opportunity. Likewise, his appearance for Josh Barnett's Bloodsport over WrestleMania Weekend was a whole lot of fun.

Not to sound too hyperbolic, but it does feel a little bit like Karrion Kross is at a crossroads in his wrestling career right now. The man himself is doing everything he can to make him stand out, he's making the absolute most out of what WWE is giving him, but if there's no real chance of his WWE role being expanded, maybe Kross might think his talents would be better used elsewhere - regardless of whether WWE decides to offer him a new deal or not.
