This is not a drill: Cody Rhodes has finished the story!

WrestleMania 40’s success was always going to be measured by how well it landed the plane of this years-long saga involving Roman Reigns, and Cody’s year-long quest to return to the main event and finally capture the WWE World Title that eluded his father decades earlier.

As it will be spelled out in this column, that path Sunday night was not a simple, “Cody wins, everyone celebrates, and it’s all perfect.” The main event had its bumps, but fans’ mileage might vary in how they assess it, which is reflected in the pages ahead.

Overall, night two has to be considered the better show of the weekend, with brisker pacing, really good wrestling, and some solid storytelling. The conclusion of the Bloodline Rules main event and its aftermath has to be considered a euphoric celebration not just for Cody, but for WWE fans who have longed for the next chapter in this company, a new direction after years of running the same story on repeat and being infused with fresh life by guest stars Sami Zayn and The Rock.

Elsewhere on the card, Drew McIntyre had his WrestleMania Moment then became part of someone else’s, Bayley finally achieved her dream and finished her story, LA Knight got his 'Mania match, though it wasn’t a rousing success, and the United States Championship got a decent spotlight.

Let’s get to it…
