AEW Dynasty Crowd REJECTS Chris Jericho - "Please Retire!"

It was another rough night at the office for Chris Jericho.

In what has become a habit in recent months, the AEW Dynasty crowd rejected Chris Jericho in a major way during last night's PPV.

At Dynasty, the inaugural AEW World Champion took on HOOK for the FTW Championship. Not just that, but Jericho actually defeated the second-generation star, using a collection of low blows, Judas Effects, and a baseball bat shot to the face to score the victory.

While having the 53-year-old Jericho defeat a 24-year-old prospect who has such a unique aura and main event potential around him is certainly a choice, the crowd at St. Louis' Chaifetz Arena had already made their thoughts clear on Le Champion way before he'd picked up the 1-2-3. Throughout the match, Jericho was met with chants of, amongst other things, "Please Retire!", "Go Home, Jericho! Go Home!", and "Fozzy Sucks!". Those chants started fairly mild but got louder and louder as the match progressed.

This is just the latest in a slew of negative or simply lacklustre crowd responses to Chris Jericho across the past several months, with many fans desperate for the veteran to step away from AEW for at least a little while and for him to not be such a consistent part of company programming and PPVs.

While a seasoned pro like Jericho working with younger talent has plenty of positives, the reality is the likes of Sammy Guevara, Ricky Starks, and Daniel Garcia were left either worse off or at least in no better spot after working with Jericho. And now, many view HOOK as being the latest to have his momentum drained by the supposed Jericho Vortex.
