With it well known that Drew McIntyre's WWE contract was set to expire later this year, many have pondered whether the Scottish Warrior has penned a new deal since he's in such a major role at WrestleMania XL. And on that front, there's somewhat of an update on DM Punk's WWE status.

Via PWInsider, McIntyre has told those close to him that he has not signed a contract extension as of yet, regardless of certain reports to the contrary. That said, both parties are working under the assumption that a new deal will be agreed upon.

For Drew, his family will be a significant factor in whatever decision he makes about his pro wrestling future, with the big man clearly having no shortage of suitors should he instead opt to explore the free agency market.

While no exact date is known, the belief is that McIntyre's current WWE deal is set to expire at some point after WrestleMania XL. Currently doing the best work of his career, many consider the 38-year-old a major favourite to defeat Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL next weekend. Even then, that doesn't necessarily mean Drew would walk out of 'Mania with that title, for there's the looming large presence of Senor Money in the Bank, Damian Priest.

Either way, this is something to very much keep an eye on, for Drew McIntyre is one of the hottest acts in the business right now.
